- Local Pro-EU Rallies / Marches
WHY ARE YOU A LOCAL CAMPAIGNER?
“I have always been interested in politics. This goes back to when I was thirteen and Alec Douglas Home was defending the Tories against Harold Wilson. The Campaign revolved against “Thirteen years of Tory misrule”. Harold won. He ruined the economy, inflation took off, unemployment rose, the £ devalued, strikes increased! Even then I thought things could be better. I supported One Nation Pro Europe Tories. But my politics have always been centrist and I have often supported Liberal. I was very impressed with the coalition government with Cameron and Clegg. After the EU Referendum, the Tory Party was dead to me and I decided to passionately support the Lib Dems.”
WHY ARE YOU A LIB DEM?
“The EU objectives are my objectives. I had been a One Nation Tory, but believed in a political bargain. Everyone deserves freedoms and environment to achieve their full potential. In return, those in need of help deserve support. So there is a balance between individual wealth and the needs of the state. Only LibDems recognise these freedoms, free markets and social responsibilities. I had been moving towards the LibDems, but the coalition government convinced me. The EU Referendum confirmed my view.”
